Disney's Animal Kingdom is a theme park that's all about celebrating the beauty and wonder of nature. From thrilling rides to up-close animal encounters, there's something for everyone to enjoy. But did you know that there are also many hidden gems throughout the park? These often-overlooked areas and experiences can add even more magic to your day
Here are some of my favorite hidden gems in Disney's Animal Kingdom
Maharajah Jungle Trek: This self-guided walking tour is a must-visit for animal lovers. It takes you through a lush jungle environment filled with exotic animals like tigers, bats, and birds. The best part? You can get up close and personal with some of these animals without any barriers between you and them. It's a unique and unforgettable experience that's often missed by Guests who rush to the bigger attractions.
Rafiki's Planet Watch: This section of the park is often overlooked, but it's definitely worth a visit. To get there, you'll need to take a short train ride from the Africa section of the park. Once you arrive, you can learn about animal conservation, visit a petting zoo, sketch a picture with an animator, and even see veterinary procedures being performed. It's a great way to get a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into caring for the animals in the park.
The Oasis Exhibits: Before you even enter the main area of the park, take a few minutes to explore The Oasis Exhibits. This area features a variety of exotic birds, including macaws and ibises, as well as lush vegetation and waterfalls. It's a peaceful and beautiful oasis that sets the tone for the rest of the park.
Wilderness Explorers: This scavenger hunt-style game is fun for the whole family. Guests can pick up a field guide and complete challenges around the park to earn badges. It's a great way to engage with the park and learn more about the animals and environment. Best of all, there is no additional charge!
Dawa Bar: Located in the Africa section of the park, this outdoor bar is a great place to relax and take in the scenery. It offers great views of the park and live entertainment in the evenings. It's a perfect spot to unwind after a long day of exploring.
These hidden gems are just a few of the many experiences waiting for you at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Don't be afraid to slow down and take in the smaller details – you never know what magical surprises you might find.
